$3,220 IN FINES FOR HUNTING DEER IN A PROVINCIAL PARK
Two Oakville men have been fined a total of $3,220 for hunting violations under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.
Petar Crnogorac and Jovan Andic both pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a firearm and hunting wildlife in a provincial park and fined $1,610 each. Both men have had previous convictions for similar offences.
Court heard that on December 4, 2008, Halton Regional Police responded to a complaint relating to two people seen walking with rifles in a field parallel to Regional Road 25 in the Town of Oakville during rush hour. Officers found the accused carrying crossbows. The men admitted they were hunting for deer and did not know if they were allowed to hunt there or not. The police constable notified the Ministry of Natural Resources and a further investigation was determined that the property was inside the boundaries of Bronte Creek Provincial Park.
Justice of the Peace Marsha Farnand heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Burlington, on June 22, 2009.
