$4,000 IN FINES FOR PROVIDING FALSE INFORMATION AND BREACHING PROBATION ORDER

A Thornhill, Ontario, man has been fined after breaching a probation order not to angle in Ontario and for providing false information to a conservation officer and

Roman Weig has been fined $3,500 for breaching a probation order and $500 for providing false information to a conservation officer.

An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Natural Resources on May 23, 2008, found Weig angling at the Sturgeon River in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, while on probation not to angle in Ontario. When asked by conservation officers about his angling activity, Weig denied that he had been angling.

Justice Kimberley DiBartolo heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Newmarket, on June 11, 2009.
