FISHING LICENCE ISSUER FINED FOR NOT REMITTING MONEY
An Ignace business owner has been fined $1,000 and must pay back the money he did not remit from selling fishing licences.
Vince Gernat, of Ignace, was fined for not submitting payment for some licences he sold during the summer of 2007. Gernat was charged for failing to follow the conditions of the Ministry of Natural Resources Manual Instruction to Outside Issuers of Angling and Hunting Licences.
Gernat did not reconcile his account for 2007 by the deadline and, as of his court date, still owed the Crown $7,400 he had collected from selling fishing licences. Gernat, a licence issuer for the ministry for several years, no longer issues fishing licences.
Justice of the Peace Daisy Hoppe heard the cases in the Ontario Court of Justice, Ignace, on May 26, 2009.
