FINED FOR LITTERING ON CONSERVATION RESERVE

April 16, 2009

A Sioux Narrows, Ontario, man has been charged for failing to clean up his hunt camp site on a conservation reserve.

Jess Swenson, 27, was fined $600 under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act for failing to restore a conservation reserve site to its original condition. He was also ordered to remove the material he left behind at his deer hunt camp site at Calendar Island in the Lake of the Woods Conservation Reserve.

Swenson had been warned by ministry officials to remove the material from his hunt camp site and was charged after he did not comply.

Justice of the Peace Robert McNally heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Kenora, on April 2, 2009.
