FINE FOR CUTTING TREES ON CROWN LAND WITHOUT A LICENCE

A Williamsburg man has pleaded guilty of illegally cutting down trees in a Crown forest.

John Kenward, 34, was fined $7000 for harvesting 30 white pine trees without a licence.

The court heard that during January and February of 2009, Kenward cut down the trees on Crown land in South Dundas Township and removed the logs.

Justice of the Peace Madame L. Leblanc heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Cornwall, on April 8, 2009.
